Buying Discount Tires Online

Buying Discount Tires Online

This page is designed to be a guide to help you in your tire buying decision. Our focus is to educate you on how to buy Discount Tires online. You will find as much information as we possible could muster so that you can make an educated decision when purchasing tires. The basis of this article is the fact that most people do save money by purchasing tires online however one of the best reasons to shop online for tires is the vast selection that you will not find at your local tire shop. We do hopw you find this article useful and please feel free to comment below.

Why Buy Tires Online?

There are many reasons to buy tires online. However I have to say the best reason I can think of is tire selection. You will find that most online tire retailers offer an average of 10 times the brands that a local tire shop has to offer. The reason for this is fairly simple and that is volume sales. With volume tires sales comes selection and buying power. The buying power is the key to online retailers being able to offer you Discount Tires. Please do not get confused when we mention Discount tires as we are not talking about factory seconds or cheap tires. What we are talking about is the same tire you would find locally at a discounted price.
Tire Reviews
Tire reviews are something most local tire stores cannot offer you. Sure they will give you their own review and tell you that the tire they are selling you is the best tire on the market, however that is not a true customer review like you will find online. Just about any online tire retailer will have customer reviews posted with the tires they are selling. Most of the times these reviews are customer generated so they cannot be altered much as you will see on sites like Amazon.com. These customer reviews are very important in deciding what kind of tires to purchase. In fact I myself have actually bought a less expensive tire because the reviews were better . Not only did this save me money but I found that I was totally satisfied with my choice. I would not have this option when buying local. This is not to say that you cannot red reviews and still buy local if you get a good deal.
Cost
As we have mentioned above you can usually save money by purchasing Discount Tires online. But what about shipping costs? Well many retailers offer Free Shipping on tires however even without the Free Shipping I have found that most times it is still cheaper to order online. Depending on the tire I have saved as much as $200.00 on a set of 4 tires by ordering online. Not to mention this also gives me the choice to take the tires to my local mechanic and have them installed instead of relying on the tire store. I am the kind of guy who likes to have everything done in one place.
Buying Discount Truck Tires
Truck tires can be tricky because there are so many different options. This is one area where you need to make some decisions such as what do I use my truck for? For example if you commute or drive your truck on the highway daily then mud tires may not be your best bet, sure they look good and wear well but after riding in the truck for a week your body may not agree with you (just sayin). However if your truck is used to go off road or work then all terrain or mud tires might be your choice. This is just an example as there are many other options as well that I will need to cover another day so for today I am going to assume stock tires and move on.
Replacing your stock tires on your truck does take a bit of research. There are many tires to choose from from a mild street tire to an all season to a more aggressive all terrain. You need to decide what you really need and settle on a style first and foremost. from there you can look at the different brands. Either way you should be able to pick up a set of Discount Tires online for your truck and still save yourself some money. If you are looking at rims as well then many times you can get a package deal shipped to you with rims and tires already mounted and balanced so all you have to do is bolt them on..
Buying Discount Car Tires
Car tires are much simpler then truck tires. basically you just need your stock size and budget and you are good to go that is unless you are upsizing. Upsizing is a different ball of wax and I am not going to cover that today. So back to replacing your car tires. You can get a basic tire that is rated for around 40,000 miles for fairly reasonable or if your budget allows you can get a higher mileage tire. You really have to decide how long you are keeping the car and if you want to go the extra expense. Now if your car requires performance tires then you need to purchase them. A non performance tire on a car designed for performance tires is not a good idea at all. There are many reasons for this but generally it is not safe as it reduces the cars handling capabilities. There are plenty of Discount Car tires available so take some time and choose the tire that suits you the best.

Discount Winter Tires

Snow Tire
Snow tire season is the busiest tire season of the year. You can find some great deals on snow tires online if you shop early. The key is to shop early. Snow tires are different then normal every day tires. The tire manufacturers shut down and retool to do a run of snow tires (usually in Feb-March for the current year). What this means is that only so many of each size is produced so when they run out then you are out of luck. I notice this to be a problem more on new vehicles that have a new size. Many times there is a very limited number produced for new tire sizes until the tire manufacturers get a grasp on the demand. So do be careful and order early if you have a new vehicle that has an odd size.
Choosing Winter Tires
Sometimes this can be a tough choice. It really depends on your driving habits, budget and where you live. I myself live off the grid so to speak on a back road here in Vermont with a steep hill. I settle for a cheap tire that i can stud for traction. I have found in my case that the more expensive tires are studless and where I live I need the studs. If you travel the highway studs or heavy lug tires can get very annoying so if that is the case you may want to look into a good riding studless tire. Do your research and also think about your driving habits. Just keep in mind to not sacrifice safety. I am a firm believer in running snow tires as opposed to all season tires if you live in a State that has extreme winters. it is not worth risking your life or the life of others. In all reality the cost balances out in the end since you are not running your all season year round so they should last quite a bit longer. You may also want to consider getting a 2nd set of rims to save on the Mount & balance expense twice a year.
